FROM OUR RECIPE BOX – Marzipan Valentine Hearts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A sweet treat for the ones you love could not be easier. Tint marzipan with pale pink or red food coloring then shape it into little hearts. (We used a silicone mold from Pastry Impressions but a heart- shaped cookie cutter will work just as well.) Use the hearts to garnish fine chocolates, a cupcake or other favorite desserts. To obtain an opaque colored marzipan, add some white food coloring before tinting with red. Knead the marzipan thoroughly to evenly distribute the color. Use some frosting to attach the marzipan hearts to cookies or cupcakes. Heat the blade of a knife over a hot burner on your stove and use it to slightly melt a chocolate bon bon before affixing the heart.
